Overview

Glide is a no-code platform that turns a spreadsheet, database or a written prompt into a business app that runs on the web and mobile. It connects to Glide Tables, Google Sheets, Excel, Airtable and databases such as PostgreSQL and Snowflake, and layers apps for inventory, CRM, dashboards and internal tools on top of that data. Access is controlled per user, so employees, managers, customers and partners each see only what they should. Its AI features, including Glide AI and the Ask Glide assistant, generate apps and answer questions about the underlying data. There is no code to manage or export.

Best for teams that want to turn spreadsheets and databases into internal tools and customer apps without writing code.

The pitch is that the spreadsheet a team already argues over becomes the app, which is also the catch: Glide inherits whatever shape that data is in, so a messy sheet produces a messy tool. Where it earns its keep is the internal software nobody was ever going to fund properly, the inspection log or the order tracker that otherwise stays a shared file, and the per-user sign-in makes those safe enough to hand to customers and contractors. Two things decide whether it lasts. The bill tracks how much an app is used rather than how many people build it, so success is what makes it expensive. And an app that outgrows the platform cannot be carried anywhere, it is rewritten, which argues for starting the ambitious project on a builder that emits code.
