Overview

Mubert builds royalty-free music by recombining samples and loops supplied by contributing artists, who are paid for that material through the Mubert Studio programme, rather than generating a finished song from one prompt. The engine is sold as four products around that idea: Render, where creators generate tracks by mood, style and duration across 150+ moods and themes, an API for putting generated or streamed music inside apps and games, Play for listeners, and Studio for the artists on the supply side. Two editors sit on top of it: Fuse scores short-form video and adds voiceover, sound effects and subtitles, while Cast is a podcast editor that removes noise, levels voices, edits audio from the transcript and drops in generated transitions, stingers and ambient textures. Tracks download as WAV, generation is billed in credits, and the licence granted runs from personal use on the free tier up to commercial rights on the paid plans.

Best for developers and creators who need royalty-free, monetizable background music at scale through an app or API.

Mubert is aimed less at producing one memorable song than at supplying continuous, safely licensed background audio at volume, which is why the API and the streaming side carry as much weight here as the generator itself. The artist-contribution model is a real point of difference for anyone uneasy about where training material came from, and the podcast and short-video editors make it usable without pulling the audio into a separate DAW. Read the licence line for your plan before you publish anything: the gap between what the free tier and the paid tiers grant is where most of the decision sits.
