Overview
Softr is a no-code platform for putting business software on top of data a team already keeps somewhere else. Instead of starting from an empty database, it connects to sources such as Airtable, Google Sheets, Notion, Coda, monday.com, HubSpot, PostgreSQL and MySQL, or to its own native database, and builds an interface over them: client and partner portals, internal tools, CRMs, intranets, dashboards, inventory trackers and knowledge bases. Apps are assembled from ready-made blocks, and an AI co-builder turns a written description into the interface, the database and the workflows, which are then changed visually rather than in code. Sign-in, user groups and permissions come with the platform. Finished apps are published to a Softr address or a custom domain and install on a phone as a progressive web app. Every plan, the free one included, allows unlimited apps, databases, workflows and forms; the paid tiers differ by usage volume and by governance features rather than by which blocks are available.
Best for teams building client portals and internal tools on top of existing data without writing code.
This suits the team that already runs on a spreadsheet or a base and now has to let other people in: the records stay where they are, and what gets built is the door in front of them, which is a much smaller commitment than moving the data first. The same framing is the limit. Nothing built here leaves the platform, so a tool that outgrows blocks and visual editing has nowhere to go but a rewrite elsewhere, and what installs on a phone is a web app rather than something from an app store. For portals and internal tools that rarely matters; for a product you intend to sell to consumers it will.
