Tipalti
Tipalti AI runs eight agents across the payables flow: invoice capture, purchase order matching, reporting, bill approvers, purchase requests, tax form scanning, ERP sync resolution and expense receipt scanning.
Global accounts payable and mass payouts, built around supplier onboarding and tax compliance rather than a ledger of its own.

Overview
Tipalti is a finance automation platform for the payables side of a business, sold as modules that can be taken separately: Accounts Payable, Mass Payments, Procurement, Expense Management and Treasury. Suppliers and payees onboard themselves through a multi-language portal that collects their banking and tax details, invoices are read and captured automatically, matched two-way or three-way against purchase orders, routed through approval rules and then paid across more than 200 countries and territories in 120 currencies using over 50 payment methods. A maintained tax engine handles W-9 and W-8 collection, 1099 filing, VAT and DAC7 reporting, alongside AML, OFAC and sanctions screening of payees. Tipalti keeps no general ledger; bills, payments and GL accounts sync with NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP Business One and Microsoft Dynamics. Developers get a documented REST API for payees, invoices, payments, payment terms and GL accounts, legacy SOAP APIs, an iFrame SDK for embedding payee onboarding, and webhooks with a retry policy. Accounts Payable starts at $99 per month and Mass Payments at $249, both with unlimited users and transaction fees on top.
Best for finance teams paying many suppliers, contractors or creators across borders, where onboarding and tax compliance matter more than bookkeeping.
Tipalti earns its keep where paying people is the hard part rather than booking the entry: many payees, many countries, and tax forms that have to be collected and filed correctly. Handing supplier onboarding to the supplier is the design decision that shapes everything else, and it pays off in proportion to how many suppliers there are, which is why the same platform can feel like overkill for a company paying a dozen local vendors. The modular structure cuts both ways, since Procurement, Expenses and Treasury are separate purchases rather than parts of the price quoted. Budget for the transaction fees as well: the monthly figure is the floor, not the bill.

FAQ
- Does Tipalti replace my accounting software?
- No. Tipalti keeps no general ledger. Bills, payments and GL accounts sync with Oracle NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, SAP Business One and Microsoft Dynamics GP or Business Central, which stay the system of record.
- Can Tipalti send invoices to my customers?
- No. Tipalti works on the payables side: incoming supplier invoices, purchase orders and outgoing payouts. Self-billing in Mass Payments creates invoices on behalf of payees being paid, which is not the same as accounts receivable.
- Which tax forms does Tipalti handle?
- Payees supply their own tax details during self-service onboarding, and the platform collects W-9 and W-8 forms, files 1099s, and covers VAT and DAC7 reporting. Payees are also screened against AML, OFAC and sanctions lists.
- What does Tipalti actually cost?
- Accounts Payable starts at $99 per month and Mass Payments at $249 per month, both with unlimited users. Transaction fees per invoice and per payment are charged on top, and the final figure depends on payment volume, legal entities, modules and the currencies and payment methods enabled. There is no free tier.
