sevdesk fits a German freelancer or small business that wants to keep its own books and hand a clean export to the tax adviser. The free tier is genuinely free rather than a countdown, so a business writing two or three invoices a month can sit on it indefinitely and move up when that stops being enough. Two limits decide whether it suits: there is no payroll at all, so salaries stay with the tax adviser or a separate tool, and the REST API only arrives in the top plan, which matters if the accounting has to talk to a shop or an ERP. Like its German peers it is built around ELSTER and DATEV, so it serves that market and not others.
