Listing Policy

These are the rules an entry on Cataleo is made under. They apply to vendors who send us a listing request, a correction or material.

The operator of Cataleo is the person named in the imprint. See the imprint

Version of this policy: 2026-10-29

A listing is free, and editorial

Listing on Cataleo costs nothing. An entry is an editorial decision, not a product you buy, and nobody has a right to be listed. We decide at our own discretion whether we list a product, change an entry or remove one. We do not have to give reasons for that decision, and we cannot reply to every request.

What we list

We list standalone software products whose product and pricing information is publicly available. Public information is the practical condition: we research every entry from the vendor’s own published pages, so a product that publishes neither features nor prices cannot be described in the same format as the rest of its category.

Some things we do not list. The list is not exhaustive and names the cases that come up:

  • services built around adult content, or marketed around uncensored or unfiltered generation
  • products whose main purpose is to infringe rights or break the law
  • lead magnets, courses, reports or one-off downloads with no standalone product behind them
  • products available in one country only and in a language other than English or German

Editorial independence

We research every entry ourselves, from the sources a vendor publishes, and we describe it in the same format and against the same criteria as every other product in its category. We do not publish vendor-supplied marketing copy, not even shortened. A vendor can report a factual error and send us corrections; we check them and decide what changes.

Paid placement, if we ever offer it, never changes editorial content, ordering or reviews. Anything paid is marked as such where it appears.

Some links to vendors are affiliate links, and we say so on every page that has them. An affiliate arrangement never decides whether a product is listed, how it is described or where it appears.

What the "Verified vendor" mark means

The mark records one thing: a request about this entry was confirmed from an email address on the product’s own domain. It says where the facts came from. It is not an endorsement, it is not a test result, and it says nothing about how good the product is.

Logos, screenshots and other material

By sending us a logo, screenshots, a video or other material, you confirm that you hold the rights needed to do so. You grant Cataleo a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to display that material, and to resize and re-encode it for that purpose, for as long as the entry exists. The licence covers the places Cataleo itself puts an entry: its own pages, the comparisons built from them, the printable comparison a reader saves as a PDF, where a logo appears in the column header, and related previews such as the image a social network shows for a shared link.

Resizing and re-encoding is technical, not editorial: every image we accept is decoded and written out again, which is also what strips metadata such as GPS coordinates from it. We may decline or remove any material. If a third party raises a claim over material you supplied, that is your responsibility.

Accuracy, and what a listing does not promise

We research with care and leave a field empty rather than guess at it, but an entry can still be wrong or out of date: prices and features change, and we do not re-check every entry every day. Verify the details with the vendor before you buy. We do not guarantee that an entry is correct, that it stays available, or that it brings traffic, a ranking or any other result.

Vendors act as businesses

This policy applies to vendors acting in the course of their business. German law applies. Where the vendor is a merchant within the meaning of the German Commercial Code, the place of jurisdiction is the operator’s registered location, Northeim.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version date at the top of this page says which text is current, and the vendor forms record the version that was in force when a request was sent.
