Overview
Mixcraft is a digital audio workstation for Windows from Acoustica, first released in 2004 and aimed at musicians, podcasters and home studios who want an approachable recording and mixing environment. It is sold as a one-time licence in three editions, Home Studio, Recording Studio and Pro Studio, with upgrade pricing for owners of earlier versions. A rent-to-own plan spreads the cost over monthly payments and leaves you with the licence at the end.
Our take
Pick Mixcraft if you record and mix on Windows, want to own the software outright, and value a gentle learning curve over deep routing and scripting. Anyone on a Mac or Linux has to look elsewhere, and a producer who expects to outgrow a beginner-friendly DAW is better served by a cross-platform workstation with a larger plug-in and scripting ecosystem. Between the editions, Home Studio's 16-track limit is the main reason to start at Recording Studio instead.

How we check reviews
Reviews are not published yet. The form on a tool's page works and reaches us, but nothing from it appears on this site, so no score here is based on a review. The rules below are the ones that will apply once reviews go live.
Every review is read by a person before it appears. We require a working email address and use it to come back to the author, so a review has a reachable sender rather than being anonymous. We publish positive and negative reviews alike, we pay nothing and offer nothing for a review, and we accept none that was bought or incentivised.
What we cannot do is verify a purchase. There is no shop here and no account, so whether the author really used the tool rests on what they tell us, plus the plausibility of what they write. We say so rather than implying a check that does not exist.
A vendor cannot have a review removed, cannot buy one, and cannot have one changed. Paid placement and a paid listing have no effect on which reviews appear or on any score.
