AI 3D Modeling Comparison
At a glance
Best for
Best for game studios that need reliable, production-ready 3D from concept art.
Best for
Best for teams that need real objects, sites and interiors captured as measurable 3D models rather than generated from a prompt.
Cataleo does not name a winner. Both statements come from the vendors themselves.
| Criterion | Kaedim | Polycam |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | From $400 / month Indie includes 20 credits a month, Pro is $1,200 for 60 credits, and larger volumes are quoted. A paid 7-day trial costs $50, listed as half of $100, includes 5 credits and renews into Indie automatically. | lower value Free tier; Basic from $12.50 / user / month Basic is $150 per year or $30 billed monthly. Business is $400 per user and year, $33 per user and month billed annually. Enterprise is $1,200 per seat and year with a minimum of three seats. |
| Free trial | No free tier and no free credits; the 7-day trial is paid | Free tier |
| Output | Production-ready 3D assets from concept art | 3D models, Gaussian splats and 2D and 3D floor plans from LiDAR, photos, drone footage or a single image |
| API | Yes | Yes, a content management API on the Enterprise plan |
| What it makes | Production-ready 3D assets from concept art | 3D models of objects and spaces from LiDAR, photos, drone footage or a single 2D image, plus Gaussian splats and 2D and 3D floor plans |
| Detail and topology | Optimized geometry down to a triangle count you set, plus up to three further levels of detail | Four photogrammetry processing levels, Fast (Optimized), Medium, Full and Raw; Raw keeps the highest detail with multiple 8K textures, while Optimized and Medium trade some resolution for real-time and mobile use and add ambient occlusion and normal maps. A Remesh tool and a simplification percentage set the polygon count and texture maps before export |
| Rigging and textures | Texturing in PBR, hand-painted, vertex-colouring or photorealistic style with UV unwrapping and UDIM support; rigging comes with the Game-ready with Rig asset type, including an optional facial rig | AI Texture Generator for custom surfaces |
| Speed | A human reviews each asset, so turnaround is slower | Set by the processing level chosen: polygon count and texture resolution drive processing time, and Polycam advises dropping from Raw to Full when a large scan processes too slowly |
| Export and pipeline fit | Exports OBJ, FBX, GLB, glTF and USD, with textures either baked onto the asset or delivered separately, plus engine plugins and webhook-based custom integrations | More than a dozen export formats for Blender, SketchUp, Unity and Unreal; the free plan exports GLTF only, and mesh and point cloud formats need a paid plan |
| Commercial use | Yes | Yes. The terms of service state that Polycam claims no ownership of the models a user creates, and that models generated with the service may be copied, modified, published, distributed, sublicensed or commercialised as long as Polycam is credited. No distinction is drawn there between free and paid accounts |

No reviews yet. Nothing has been published here yet, and no score is shown. How a review is checked before it appears is described below.
Before sending, the author has to confirm three things: that they have used the product themselves, that they work neither for the vendor nor for a competitor, and that nobody is paying them for the review. We also ask whether the vendor invited them to write it. That answer is required, either answer is accepted, and it stays with the review.
Every review is read by a person before it appears. An email address is required and is confirmed: we send a link to it, and a review does not reach us until the author opens that link, so a review has a sender who was reachable at least once rather than being anonymous. Where what somebody writes needs backing, we ask them for evidence that they used the product, and a review that does not get it is not published. We publish positive and negative reviews alike, we pay nothing and offer nothing for a review, and we accept none that was bought or incentivised.
What we cannot do is verify a purchase. There is no shop here and no account, so whether the author really used the tool rests on their own declaration, on whatever we ask them for, and on the plausibility of what they write. We say so rather than implying a check that does not exist.
A vendor cannot buy a review, and cannot have one removed or changed because they dislike it. We remove or edit a review only if it breaks our rules or the law, for example a false statement of fact. Paid placement has no effect on which reviews appear or on any score.
