Overview
Deltek Maconomy is a cloud ERP built for professional services firms, bringing project management, resource planning, financial accounting and business intelligence together. It is aimed at consulting practices, agencies, IT services, architecture and engineering firms, and at the mid-sized to large end of those. The modules cover project and financial management with work in progress and profitability tracking, automated billing and revenue recognition, time and expense entry, People Planner for scheduling staff and capacity, financial budgeting, CRM and workflow automation. Deltek does not publish a price list for it.
Our take
Maconomy assumes a firm whose product is billable hours, and everything follows from that: the ledger, the schedule and the invoice describe one project rather than three systems reconciled at month end, which is the case for buying an ERP this specialised instead of a general one. It is pitched at the upper mid-market, so a small studio will meet a scope and an implementation effort out of proportion to what it needs, and Deltek's own line already splits by industry, which makes the first question whether Maconomy or Vantagepoint fits the practice. With no published price, budgeting starts with a sales conversation and there is no way to size the commitment beforehand. Firms already running other Deltek products have the shortest route in.
