Overview
Hive is a project management tool that draws the work around the tasks into the same workspace. Alongside projects, tasks, Gantt and Kanban views, saved tabs, templates and a portfolio grid it carries collaborative notes, proofing and approvals, intake forms, native chat and an email client that pulls Gmail and Outlook threads in and turns them into actions. Time is tracked on the task card and rolls into timesheets, and billable hours feed a finance module that produces worksheets and invoices. An AI assistant called Buzz drafts replies, builds projects and workflows from a description and assembles dashboards, while Sidekick captures calls. The free plan covers up to ten workspace members, and several capabilities, among them timesheets, team resourcing, proofing, advanced dashboards, external users and SSO, are sold as add-ons on top of the seat price rather than bundled into a tier.
Best for delivery teams that want tasks, proofing, notes and billable hours in one workspace instead of four subscriptions.
Hive fits a team that keeps drifting between a task tool, a proofing tool and a spreadsheet of hours, because what is on offer here is consolidation rather than a best-in-class version of any one of those. The add-on model is the thing to price out before comparing headline figures, since several of the capabilities that make the consolidation worth having are charged on top of the seat, and which ones a team needs decides what it actually pays. For a group that only wants a board and a task list, the breadth is weight it will never use.
