Overview
Motion joins project management to the calendar and lets an AI planner decide when each task actually gets done. Tasks carry a do date as well as a due date, and the planner timeblocks them against meetings across connected calendar accounts, reshuffling the day as work runs over and warning ahead of time when something is at risk of missing its deadline. From a short description it will lay out a project with stages, deadlines and assignees rather than asking for them one at a time. Around that sit docs and a wiki, an AI meeting notetaker that produces summaries, action items and follow-up emails, and, on the Business AI plan, team capacity planning, time tracking, timeline and Gantt views and dashboards with project ETAs. It runs in the browser and as desktop and mobile apps, connects to Zoom, Google Meet, Gmail, Outlook, Slack, Teams, Siri, HubSpot and Salesforce, and exposes a REST API for tasks, projects, custom fields, recurring tasks, comments, schedules, statuses, users and workspaces. Plans are per seat and include a monthly AI credit allowance: Pro AI at $12.73 a seat billed yearly and Business AI at $19.43, with an enterprise tier quoted separately.
Best for busy teams and solo operators who want their task list scheduled into the calendar automatically instead of triaged by hand.
Motion asks for something most task tools never ask: you have to let it own the calendar, and anyone who overrules the plan every morning is paying a premium for a list. That makes it a strong fit where the bottleneck is deciding what to do next rather than writing down what needs doing, and a weak one for roles whose day is set by other people's meetings and interruptions anyway. It sits at the expensive end of this category, and because AI use is metered on top of the seat rate, the real monthly figure depends on how hard the team leans on it and is difficult to predict before starting. Evaluating it is a paid decision, so spend the trial on a genuinely busy fortnight: the tool only proves itself when there is more work than there is day.

Limitations

FAQ
- How does Motion decide when a task gets done?
- Every task carries a do date alongside its due date, and the AI planner timeblocks it into the calendar around existing meetings. When work overruns the planner reshuffles the remaining tasks and warns in advance about anything now at risk of missing its deadline.
- Is there a free plan?
- No. Motion offers a free trial and then two paid per-seat plans, Pro AI and Business AI, plus an enterprise tier quoted separately.
- What are Motion credits for?
- They meter AI use. Pro AI includes 7,500 credits per seat per month and Business AI 15,000; beyond that, credits cost 25 cents per 100 on Pro AI and 19 cents per 100 on Business AI. The pricing page does not break down which features consume them.
