Overview
Emburse handles employee spend and supplier invoices on one platform, split into a Professional line for smaller organisations and an Enterprise line for large ones. Emburse Expense captures receipts with OCR, enforces approval routing, allowances and per diems, and audits claims against policy before approval. Around it sit Invoice for supplier invoices, Cards for physical and virtual cards with spending controls, Book for travel and Pay for reimbursements and vendor payment. Integration runs through documented REST APIs, file transfers and ERP connectors, and there is no published price.
Our take
Emburse earns its place when the same finance team is chasing receipts, card limits, travel bookings and supplier invoices, because buying those separately leaves four reconciliation problems where the platform leaves one. If only one of the four is actually a problem, pick the single-purpose tool instead; the breadth is the whole argument here and it is wasted on a narrow brief. The split product line is the thing to get right, since Professional and Enterprise are different products with different depth rather than tiers of one. And no amounts are published anywhere on the site, which puts even a rough budget behind a sales conversation.

Features
- Invoicing and quotes
- Incoming supplier invoices through Emburse Invoice, in a Professional and an Enterprise edition: mobile capture with OCR, configurable approval routing, policy violation flags and vendor payments by ACH, check or virtual card. The published platform covers spend, so customer invoicing and accounts receivable are not part of it
- Bookkeeping and bank feeds
- No ledger of its own. Expense, invoice and card data sync to the accounting system through connectors, REST APIs or file transfer, with NetSuite, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Sage Intacct, SAP and Xero named in the integration directory
- Expenses and receipts
- Yes, and it is the core of the platform: receipt photos read by OCR, approval routing, user allowances and per diem enforcement, InstantAudit against policy breaches and duplicates, scheduled report generation via ReportExecutive, and reimbursement in more than 140 currencies
- Tax and compliance
- Emburse Assurance applies AI compliance checks to claims, and the platform states global VAT reconciliation and compliance with regional tax and regulatory requirements across the 200 countries it covers. There is no tax filing engine of its own
- Payroll
- No payroll. HR and payroll systems are connected instead, with Workday, Dayforce, UKG Dimensions and Ellucian Ethos named in the integration directory
- Reports and exports
- Yes, analytics and audit covering spend forecasting, risk detection and VAT reconciliation, on top of the expense, card, travel and invoice data held in one place
- Integrations and API
- Yes, REST APIs documented in the enterprise implementation toolkit for Expense, Invoice, Person, PreApproval, Purchase Order, Vendor, Allocation, Entity and further objects, plus a virtual cards API, file transfers and pre-built ERP connectors

Pros and Cons
Strengths
- Expense, travel, corporate cards and supplier invoices sit on one platform instead of four
- Documented REST APIs alongside pre-built ERP connectors and file transfer
- More than 140 currencies and 64 languages in Expense Professional, for globally spread teams
- Separate Professional and Enterprise lines, so a mid-sized company is not sold an enterprise rollout
Limitations
- No published pricing anywhere on the site
- The product names carry the history of several merged companies, which makes the portfolio hard to map at first
- No general ledger, so it supplements accounting software rather than replacing it

FAQ
- What does Emburse cost?
- Emburse does not publish amounts. There is no pricing page in the site navigation, and the individual product pages route to a demo request, so pricing comes out of a sales conversation.
- What is the difference between Emburse Professional and Emburse Enterprise?
- They are two product lines rather than two tiers. Expense, Invoice and Book each exist in a Professional edition aimed at small and mid-sized organisations and an Enterprise edition for large ones, and the feature depth differs between them.
- Does Emburse offer an API?
- Yes. The enterprise implementation toolkit documents REST APIs for objects including Expense, Invoice, Person, PreApproval, Purchase Order and Vendor, and there is a separate virtual cards API. File transfer and pre-built ERP connectors are offered alongside them.

How we check reviews
Reviews are not published yet. The form on a tool's page works and reaches us, but nothing from it appears on this site, so no score here is based on a review. The rules below are the ones that will apply once reviews go live.
Every review is read by a person before it appears. We require a working email address and use it to come back to the author, so a review has a reachable sender rather than being anonymous. We publish positive and negative reviews alike, we pay nothing and offer nothing for a review, and we accept none that was bought or incentivised.
What we cannot do is verify a purchase. There is no shop here and no account, so whether the author really used the tool rests on what they tell us, plus the plausibility of what they write. We say so rather than implying a check that does not exist.
A vendor cannot have a review removed, cannot buy one, and cannot have one changed. Paid placement and a paid listing have no effect on which reviews appear or on any score.
