Overview
MYOB is accounting and business management software for Australian and New Zealand businesses, spanning invoicing, bookkeeping, payroll and tax. Every plan sends unlimited invoices and quotes, while bank feeds cover two accounts on the entry plans and become unlimited higher up. GST tracking is built in, the business plans handle full GST and BAS, and Single Touch Payroll covers payroll reporting. The lineup runs from Solo for sole traders, through Business Lite and Business Pro, to AccountRight Plus, which also runs on the desktop.
Our take
MYOB is a jurisdiction choice before it is a product choice: file in Australia or New Zealand and the compliance work is done for you, file anywhere else and there is no reason to look at it. Inside that market the decision turns on payroll, which is where the plans actually separate, so count employees before comparing feature lists. The Solo app fits a sole trader who does the books on a phone and will feel thin the day a second person joins. Established businesses carrying stock are the ones who get their money's worth from the top plan; for everyone else that tier is headroom they are unlikely to use.
