Overview
Dolibarr is an open-source ERP and CRM suite written in PHP and released under the GNU General Public License, aimed at freelancers, companies of any size and associations. The suite is modular: sales and CRM, finance with double-entry accounting, inventory and manufacturing, HR with expense reports and timesheets, and projects with tasks and time spent. Each module is switched on individually, a Module Builder allows low-code extensions, and the DoliStore marketplace carries add-ons. Installation runs from a generic PHP setup or Docker images; DoliCloud is the official hosted service.
Our take
Dolibarr is the option for a company that would rather own its business system than rent it, and the licence is the whole argument: the data sits in your own database, the modules you do not switch on stay out of the way, and leaving DoliCloud for your own server is an export rather than a negotiation. That freedom is paid for in setup work. Somebody has to decide which modules belong on, keep a PHP stack patched and judge which DoliStore add-ons are worth trusting, and none of that is billed to a vendor. The project scheduling is deliberately plain, with no capacity-based planning and no critical path, so a firm that staffs people across booked weeks will feel the gap quickly. Small teams with an in-house technical hand, or a partner on call, get the most out of it.

Pros and Cons
Strengths
- Free and open source under GPL-3+, with no per-seat cost when self-hosted
- Modular: each area is switched on separately, so unused parts stay out of the interface
- Runs from packaged installers, a plain PHP stack or Docker, and moves between self-hosting and DoliCloud
- Module Builder and the DoliStore marketplace for extensions
- Accounting exports in the FEC format and in formats for several accounting packages
Limitations
- Self-hosting means running and patching a PHP and database stack yourself
- Project planning has no capacity-based scheduling and no critical path

FAQ
- Can Dolibarr synchronise with an online shop?
- Not on its own. Synchronisation runs through external modules from the DoliStore marketplace, and the project names PrestaShop, Magento, osCommerce, WooCommerce and OpenCart as platforms that are fully or partly supported that way. An e-commerce module built into Dolibarr itself is announced, with a tentative availability at the end of 2026.
- Can customers pay an invoice online?
- Yes, through the payment modules. The project names PayPal, Stripe and Paybox, states that payment links can be added to outgoing emails automatically, and describes Dolibarr as ready for Strong Customer Authentication.
- Can Dolibarr use our existing user directory?
- Yes. The LDAP module lets users sign in with the password from your own LDAP server, creates users in Dolibarr from LDAP data and synchronises user records in whichever direction you choose. Two-step authentication with systems such as Google Authenticator is added by modules from the DoliStore marketplace rather than being part of the core.
- What else can be connected to Dolibarr?
- Outgoing mail runs through your own SMTP provider, so sent messages also appear in that mailbox. Google Maps, Google Contacts and Google Calendar are reachable through external modules, the generic clickToDial module starts a call from a contact record, and external RSS feeds can be shown on the dashboard. Anything beyond that is a question for the DoliStore marketplace, which carries connectors for email, SMS, bank interfaces and document generation.

How we check reviews
Reviews are not published yet. The form on a tool's page works and reaches us, but nothing from it appears on this site, so no score here is based on a review. The rules below are the ones that will apply once reviews go live.
Every review is read by a person before it appears. We require a working email address and use it to come back to the author, so a review has a reachable sender rather than being anonymous. We publish positive and negative reviews alike, we pay nothing and offer nothing for a review, and we accept none that was bought or incentivised.
What we cannot do is verify a purchase. There is no shop here and no account, so whether the author really used the tool rests on what they tell us, plus the plausibility of what they write. We say so rather than implying a check that does not exist.
A vendor cannot have a review removed, cannot buy one, and cannot have one changed. Paid placement and a paid listing have no effect on which reviews appear or on any score.
